We’re very pleased to welcome Dr. Nabilah Chowdhury as the new Director, Network Management, UBC AI and Health Network, effective September 15, 2025, for a five-year term ending March 31, 2030.
As Director, Dr. Chowdhury will ignite the UBC AI and Health Network’s mission to build capacity for research, education and outreach that leverages the latest advances in AI—ultimately improving health systems and patient care across B.C. and Canada. She will act as the senior administrator of the Network, leading strategic planning implementation, strengthening internal and external partnerships, and ensuring the operational infrastructure needed for impactful, sustainable programming.
Nabilah joins us from her role as Director, Pan-Canadian AI Strategy at CIFAR, where over the past seven years she helped shape national AI policy, fostered collaboration among government, academic and industry partners, and built capacity for responsible AI innovation.
She holds a PhD in neuroscience from the University of Toronto and a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience from Dalhousie University.
Her blend of strategic vision, operational expertise and interdisciplinary connections make her a tremendous asset to our community. We’re excited for the experience, knowledge and energy she will bring to our Network team.
